"Reese's S'mores/Night Swimming" ~ "Glow in the Dark Bubbles"

Day 16: Try a new kind of S'more (Reese's S'mores)/Night Swimming & Day 17: Glow in the Dark Bubbles

Day 16:  We had a busy, fun filled day today!!  We went to the Farmer's Market in the morning, I love the Farmer's Market.  And we got a lot done outside today.  We had so many things going on today that we didn't get to do everything, we missed my nephew's graduation party :(
It was such a gorgeous day out today, the weather was perfect! We ended our day with a campfire and decided we would try something new...Reeses Peanut Butter Cup S'mores.

Everyone had a fun time making S'mores and sitting around the campfire :)

Later, we decided to go 'night swimming'.  It was really warm out and the kids just loved the idea, they had a blast!!

Day 17:  Today we went and visited my sister Mary and her family. They were in town from Wyoming for my nephew's graduation.  We had a nice visit and she gave me the idea to try the glow in the dark bubbles.  We got to talking about all the glow stick activities we are going to try this summer and we thought we would try glow in the dark bubbles.
We got some supplies we thought we would use: Dish soap, bubbles, pipe cleaners (which work good for blowing bubbles..I never knew!), and of course, glow sticks!!   The "stuff" inside the glowsticks is non-toxic (so they say), but it warns you that it could stain your clothes.

Well....This project was an epic fail...ha ha ha.  We couldn't even get any pictures of the bubbles. We tried a few different approaches to making the bubbles, but it wasn't very successful. The last thing we tried worked a little, the bubbles faintly glowed, it was pretty cool, but I thought it would have worked better.  We are going to give this project another try later in the summer. I will have to look up how other people did it. I think we might have to add more of the glow-goo, but I'm not sure. Cool idea, not sure we did it right.  I did, however, discover some other really cool things you can do with the glow sticks. We did a little "experimenting."  You will get a chance to see these in another post.

  1. Wow! sounds like a great evening! BTW: the "wall" you built around the fire pit looks pretty cool!
