"God's Eye"

Day 6: Made a God'e Eye Craft
http://craftsbyamanda.com/2011/08/camp-crafts-gods-eye.html

Today was a cold day, not a good day for swimming or outdoor activities, so we decided to do a craft instead.  Grandma Candi is a Sunday school teacher and she had a good idea to make "God's Eye."  She had the kits and instructions already made up from one of the other teachers so it was a perfect activity for the day.  The boys weren't too excited about it when we first started because it was a little confusing, so we were off to a rocky start.  Dalton likes to be the best at everything, so he was being pouty when Lane figured it out before him.  But once we all had it figured out, then it was more fun for them.  Lane especially enjoyed this activity, and his "eye" turned out the best.  He did such a good job!!

Sawyer...always up for a photo op!!

The project turned out really good.  Once they figured out what they were doing and that it wasn't that hard, they really got into it.  I'm finding that when we start something sometimes one or two of them might complain about it or say they don't want to do it but they are all required to participate.  It's funny how they actually like it and by the end of the activity they are excited about it.  I'm hoping to show them it's ok to try things you might not think are fun, but to give it a chance because you might change your mind and decided you really did like it, and at least you can say you tried it.  So far it's working :)   Love The Fritch Clan.....

Sawyer helped Gramma cook while we worked on our project.

"Lending a Helping Paw"

Day 5  Humane Society Donation
http://www.fdlhumane.org/
Today we decided we wanted to give back a little. So the kids and I went to the store and purchased some items to donate to the humane society of FDL.  They are really in needs of certain items.  If you go to their website they have a list of things they need.  They are especially in need now because of that Husky farm getting shut down.

They were pretty excited to go in and see the animals, but we only got to pet some of the kittens they had out in the lobby.  They thought it was cool to help out and I'm sure they felt pretty good about it.  We talked about why we need to donate our time, money, and items to places like this so that they can continue to run and help people/animals.  It was a nice way to start out our day!

"Memorial Day Parade"

Day 4 Memorial Day Parade

Today is a working holiday for me, so our activity for the day was to attend a parade.  We went to the Memorial Day parade in FDL.  Sawyer loved the marching bands, he danced and clapped for every one!!  We talked about why it was important to stand and clap every time a Vet passed us in the parade.  I just wanted to say "Thank You" to all the Vets who gave thier lives to protect and serve our county, from our family to yours....

Have a Blessed Memorial Day Everyone...We hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend!!

"Marshmallow Madness"

Day 3 Marshmallow Creations and Goat Wrangling
http://www.teachervision.fen.com/tv/printables/0876286910_28.pdf

Today was a beautiful day!!  This morning we got up and Daddy made us all muffins and then we went to church.  It was so warm out, as soon as we got home the kids jumped in the pool. Today was filled with lots of outdoor activities. We swam, cleaned the pool, and rode the 4-wheelers just to name a few.

One of our good friends brought over his new baby goat for the kids to see. They loved it!!  We are planning on getting a few goats so we wanted to do a "trial run" to see how the dogs and baby would take it...well he was a hit :)
He would chase the kids around like a little puppy, it was so cute!!

Later on in the evening we had a fire and decided to make marshmallow creations. We will try this project again later on in the summer when we can make our creations a little bigger. But the kids still had a lot of fun making their creations and eating the marshmallows.  But now it's time to say good night, we had a very long day and everyone is tired.  It's a perfect night to sleep outside again, but I think everyone is so tired they all just want to crash in their beds.
G'night...The Fritch Clan

"Fairy Stone Hunt"

Day 2 ~ Fairy Stone Hunt
http://www.fdlco.wi.gov/Index.aspx?page=390

This morning we woke up to a somewhat dreary morning and some sick kids.  We ended up "camping out" last night. Ben, Sawyer, Maisy, and I decided to sleep in the camper with the windows open.  It was so nice out last night, it was raining and there was an awesome breeze, I slept REALLY good.  Unfortunately, Ben, Maisy, and Sawyer are feeling a little under the weather today.  It looks like rain is in the forecast so I'm thinking we are going to be doing something indoors today.  Maisy and I have a play date and we get makeovers while the boys stay home and do their thing.

Since the weather cleared and it warmed up a bit we decide that today we would go for a fairy stone hunt. Now, it's a little known fact that out in Hobbs Woods there are magical fairies that leave their precious gems and stones for the little kids to hunt...I don't know, it sounded good.  But apparently the owners of the woods put them out there for the kids to find as they are hiking, it really is a cute idea. We always have fun when we go hunting for fairy stones :)

The kids love it out here.  Lane really loves the woods. He gets down in the dirt and digs for stones and climbs trees.
They were "wading" looking for fairy stones, and poor Sawyer fell in the water!!

We ended up finding 3 fairy stones and $0.07!!  We also found some cool rocks that were are going to use for another project later this summer.  We made it out of the woods before the rain totally drenched us.  It turned out to be a nice day that were lucky enough to be able to spend outside.  Can't wait to see what adventures tomorrow brings!!

"Schools Out For Summer"

Day 1 "Schools out for Summer"
Today was the last day of school for the kids (with the exception of Chasyn, he still has another two weeks to go).  Needless to say they were pretty excited.  Actually, they have been pretty amped up for this day for the last two weeks..those poor teachers, I'm sure nothing got done in the last few weeks of school!  We had a short church service at the school, which included the kindergarten graduating class of 2012, too cute, as well as the presentation of a gift for one of our teachers who is getting married this summer.  A "money tree", it was a really cute idea, they tied different amounts of money and coins to a tree and put it in a vase, very cute.  After the service we had a picnic lunch, lots of goodies to eat and a time for the kids to play, make plans for the summer, and say their 'good-byes'.  We made plans for an "epic sleepover" in about 3 weeks, they are pretty excited about that.  I'm sure it will be a fun night!!

Time to head home...first thing they do...jump in the pool!!  It was a pretty warm day so I'm sure it felt nice to swim, even though the water is still pretty cold.  The rest of the afternoon was spent getting some things done outside. We started painting the shed, filled the sandbox with new sand, and Ben cleaned his shop.
Finally, we decided we would go for a "Fairy Stone Hunt" at Hobbs Woods, but when we got there it looked like rain, so we decided we would go for ice cream instead. What a perfect way to kick off summer with ice cream right ;)  We'll save the hike in the woods for another day.  By this time everyone is tired and we just want to go home and relax.  I manage to take a super cute picture of the kids laying in the grass in our side yard before we end our day.  I think I'm going to frame this one!  Now we're settling in for the night, the boys are playing games, Maisy has a cough, ugh, and it just started to rain.  All in all, I think it was a pretty successful day, didn't go exactly as planned, but I guess that's party of the adventure. I learned you can prepare as much as you want, but sometimes stuff happens and then you just have to go with the flow.  My hubby teases and says ,"I guess you're going to have a few days where you say today we mowed the lawn or today we played lets take a nap." Funny guy, isn't he...
Until tomorrow, G'nite.

Summer 2012...100 Days of Summer Adventure Begins...Now!!

Welcome to the Fritch Family Blog.  We want to invite you to join us on our Summer adventures this year.  So the story goes...One day, (March 7th, 2012 to be exact) the kids and I decided we wanted to take a summer challenge, we wanted to do something like Phinneas and Ferb would do. If you have ever watched Disney Channel, you may have seen this cartoon...the catch phrase is "I know what we're gonna do today!" And each day they build something spectacular, and so on, you get the idea. So the plan is to do something different, each day of summer vacation, for 100 days. We're going to write about it in our summer journal, we're gonna take lots pictures as we go and create a summer scrapbook, and we're also going to blog about it so all of our friends and family (especially those we don't see too often) can enjoy our adventure as well :)  We're trying to promote the kids to be more active and to get outside and do something versus spending the summer inside playing video games. I think this will bring us closer as a family and hopefully the kids will bond a little more and fight less (wishful thinking ;)....Our adventure starts tomorrow, May 25, 2012!
